Amazing authentic sizchuan food, love the entire menu and the restaurant. Be prepared for some spice! Cocktails are also amazing, every one we tried was so unique and well made. Highly recommend going to Astoria!

I love Astoria. It's one of my favorite spots in the city and I'm always excited to go back. The inside of the restaurant is gorgeous and dimly lit, and the outside space is nice and good for people watching. A great place for a date or catching up with friends. If you plan to go on a Friday or Saturday night, make a reservation in advance or get there early to avoid long wait times. The cocktails and food are tasty. My favorite drinks that I've tried are the Mojito and the Painkiller. For first-timers, note that on the menu there's a cat under each dish breathing a different amount of fire to indicate how spicy the dish is. Must get (5/5): Beef Noodles, Double Cooked Pork, Honey Walnut Shrimp Still good (4/5): Dan Dan Noodles, Watercress, Cumin Lamb Pass (3/5): Gong Bao Chicken, La-Zi Chicken. These dishes are not as complex or well-prepared as the other dishes, and not worth the price.

We had a very pleasant experience at Astoria but I cannot say I understand why lines are so much longer than at other bars. We ordered one drink each (photo has details of which) and found them to be strong with pleasant summery flavours. We were given free wine due to long delays for food which was very nice. I hope that this is not a regular occurrence though and that maybe some of the staff were out sick or something. Our food was delicious. My partner is vegetarian and there was a decently sized vegetarian menu. We found that two dishes was the perfect amount for two adults, despite the recommendation on the menu. Maybe taller people would need two or more dishes per person. Overall, a pleasant experience but one star off for the difficulty of actually getting in the restaurant. We made our reservation 3 weeks in advance and still only patio tables were available with the option to move into the bar. There are many other good cocktail bars in DC that people should distribute themselves to so this one is less crowded all the time!

The menu at Astoria is an exquisite blend of Chinese-inspired dishes, showcasing both traditional flavors and innovative twists. Highlights include the Dan Dan noodles, which offer a perfect balance of spicy and savory, and the succulent Peking duck, which is a must-try. The dishes are thoughtfully presented and portioned generously, making it an ideal spot for both casual dinners and special occasions. Astoria Restaurant and Cocktail Bar is a gem in Washington, D.C.'s dining scene. It offers an exceptional blend of delicious, high-quality food and expertly crafted cocktails, all within a stylish and welcoming environment. Whether you're a local or a visitor, Astoria is a dining destination that should not be missed. Highly recommended for those seeking a memorable culinary and cocktail experience.

Extremely large / fun drinks but pricey!!! Food comes out in large family style portions so probably best to come with a crowd. It was good but I probably wouldn't come back due to the price tag. I know it's DC but still.

I love the decorations, I just wish it was a bit bigger because it's so good and popular. The hostess stand is not run well, it's chaos. But the servers and bartenders are all really great. I also HATE QR code menus so just a warning if you hate them too they only have QR code menus. But it's worth it. We had the Dan Dan noodles and beef noodles. Most of us liked the sweet and savory taste of the Dan Dan noodles more. It is a dryer noodle. The beef noodle have a lot more sauce, and the beef was excellent, but just didn't like the sauce as much. The pea shoots are delicious and oddly filling. And the double cooked pork was so good. My ultimate favorite though was the walnut shrimp. The are perfectly fried with a sugary glaze that wasn't too sweet, but at the same time be aware it is sweet. The cocktails were also good, the will modify them or make you a different version.

I thought it would be hard to find authentic chinese food in DC, but this place was amaazing!! Pea tips, dandan noodles, everything was so good and tasted authentic. Even the water boiled fish was really good which I didn't expect. The ambiance is also really nice, and the cocktails are amazing and creative. Love this place!

We've been coming here for years. The food is always outstanding and the drink menu is ever-changing. Definately a must for DC. The drinks are not quite 5 star status thus the cut, but damn the place and ambiance is great. Service is 50/50 on being great vs avg.

Great cozy vibe. Love both the heated outdoor seating and indoor seating. Place is super small so definitely think about making a reservation in advance! The food was really good and came in good portions. My favorites were the peashoots, beef noodles, and cumin lamb.

Really good place for casual drinks and food. Drinks are expensive at $17 each but they are well made. The food is the better deal! Two of us shared the salt and pepper fried eggplant and Dan Dan noodles and it was enough. I cannot rave enough about the salt and pepper fried eggplant - so crispy and spicy. It's great! Service was good, but not particularly helpful with the food descriptions, but was great at helping us select cocktails. The bartender made great variations on old fashioneds, too!
